Vigilance Awareness Week 2020

Dear Customer,

Thank you for the continued support and patronage to Indian Bank.

The Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) is being celebrated every year coinciding with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known to be a man who had set highest standards of integrity. As the proud citizens of India, we need to join in the Government of India’s pursuit for achieving the vision of making a New India by 2022, which will be the 75th anniversary of our Independence. Towards this, the Central Vigilance Commission endeavours to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life.

Started in 1999, the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year thereafter is part of the multi-pronged approach of the Commission to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.

The Central Vigilance Commission has decided that this year Vigilance Awareness Week would be observed from 27.10.2020 to 02.11.2020 with the theme “Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India)”

Corruption can be defined as dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, either to obtain benefit to oneself or to some other person. It is a global phenomenon, affecting all strata of society in some way or the other. Corruption undermines economic and political development, democratic norms, the environment, people’s health and much more. It is, therefore, imperative for all of us to be aware of our role in weeding out corruption and to contribute in every possible way to eradicate this menace afflicting the society at large.

E-governance, systemic changes in procedures, minimal discretion, reduced public interface, technology-based procurement and automation will go a long way in reducing corruption. The Central Vigilance Commission has been advising all organizations/ departments to identify and implement effective preventive measures to fight Corruption and to enhance transparency and accountability in their functioning. As a bank that has its roots in our nation’s Swadeshi Movement, Indian Bank is continuously striving to achieve this on an on-going basis. We appeal to all our valued customers to join in our mission of eliminating corruption by taking e-Pledge to which this page leads to.
